Colorado Academy (CO) took a 5-1 halftime lead and held on to defeat Torrey Pines (CA), 7-5, Tuesday in a key inter-state game.
Colorado Academy is 5-0 while Torrey Pines – No. 19 in the Warrior/TopLaxRecruits North America Boys’ rankings – fell to 5-1.
Winston Palmeri and Jack Thomas each had two goals while Mac Mease and Seth Miller each scored once for the Mustangs. The defense was more the story as senior defensemen Trevor Pratt (Cortland), Matt Cole (Colorado College) and Griffin Prall and senior LSM Sam Sweeney (St. Lawrence) and junior goalie Zander Naes were steady all game (via CA_Lax).
In on one of the Thomas’ goals he navigated a crowd of defenders and switched to his left, went underhand, and while backwards shot low to high.
