Unbeaten McDonogh (Md.) completed a 19-0 regular season to remain the unanimous No. 1 team in the Nike/US Lacrosse High School Girls’ Lacrosse National Top 25 poll, released Tuesday by US Lacrosse. The poll appears as part of Lacrosse Magazine’s bi-weekly report on high school girls’ lacrosse at laxmagazine.com/hsg25.
The Eagles entered the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland tournament as its No. 1 seed and defeated Archbishop Spalding (Md.), 15-11, in a quarterfinal Monday for their 20th win. McDonogh’s other recent victories include a 10-7 road win at then-No. 13 Century (Md.), which tied No. 10 Milton as the only teams to come within three goals of the Eagles. No. 16 Vero Beach (Fla.) is the Top 25’s first state champion, defeating Bartram Trail (Fla.) 17-3 to win its eighth straight Florida crown. Many of the teams in the Top 25 earned early byes in league or state tournaments.
