#TopLaxRecruits Featured Uncommitted Player of the Week: 2025 Goalie Matt McKane

01/20/2023 By TopLaxRecruits Leave a Comment

1/20/2023 SAN RAFAEL, CA – This week’s edition of the @toplaxrecuits uncommitted featured player is Matt McKane. Matt was a standout goalie this past weekend in the Sand Storm 2025AA division and led his Fog City 2025 team to win the Championship! We have selected Matt as a featured uncommitted player as part of our new weekly article to give NCAA exposure to high school athletes.

Matt McKane, a current sophomore at Marin Academy (CA), plays club lacrosse for Fog City LC and West Coast Starz at a AA level. Recently, McKane was named goalie MVP at The Show showcase and an all star at the 5 Star recruiting event. Matt was even rated a 4 star recruit for Inside Lacrosse. While he is proving to be a tough matchup to score against for opposing teams, his coaches had high praise for Matt.

Jesse Foss – 2025 West Coast Starz Coach on Matt McKane:

“Matt is an amazing goalie. Makes all the saves he supposed to and steals a few he shouldn’t. Makes hard saves looks routine. Very little wasted movement and great hands.  He has really stepped up as one of our leaders. He is sincere, caring, and passionate about his teammates and the sport. The best story I can share about his character is last summer at NLF he was supposed to play 2nd half. Our 1st half goalie was on fire but having two great goalies I never considered double barreling him. Matt came up to me right before halftime and told me that the goalie needed to stay. In all my years I’ve never had a player do that in club. On a competitive team where everyone is competing for time and at the biggest event of summer he put a teammate in front of his interests. Absolutely amazing goalie but an even better kid.”

Peter Langkammerer – Director of Fog City LC on McKane:

“Matt is a unique talent with all the attributes to make him competitive at the next level. Hand speed, and innate ball stopping ability make him difficult to score on. His dedication to his craft & work ethic set him apart. Perhaps more notable however is his humility and support for his teammates. He would be a great addition to any locker room and we look forward to watching him play at the next level.”
