Carroll (TX) sophomore LSM/defenseman Jack Welding has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at the University of Maryland.

2013-Southlake Carroll Assist: 3 Saves: 3 Ground balls: 47; Started all 13 games as a close defender; 1 of 2 freshmen to start on varsity; T99 All Star Game; Top 205 All Star Game; University of North Carolina Camp All Star Game Terrapin Classic. 2014-Showtime Lacrosse Camp

What will you major in/study: Undecided

Why did you choose school: “I chose the university of Maryland because it is a top academic school, the diversity of degree programs, and its (move to) the great conference of the Big 10. I also chose the school because of the outstanding coaching staff, Coach (John) Tillman, (Ryan) Moran, and (Kevin) Conry. Lastly, I really enjoyed the time I spent with the players and can’t wait to be a part of the Maryland Family.”
