Andrew Packer

College Choice: Maryland

Major lacrosse honors, All-Star teams, Camps, Showcases: Brine Shootout at UMBC, U19 Storm; Scarlet Knights Summer Shootout at Rutgers University, U17 Storm; Battle of the Hotbeds at University of Delaware, Team Florida U19 Hammerheads; U15 National championship ESPN Center, U15 storm; Maverick Showtime Lacrosse at West Connecticut State University

What will you major in/study? Business.

Why did you choose school? “When I was visiting schools I really paid attention to if it had a good business program. I knew Maryland had this right fit. Also, it was fitting that my dad was an alumni and also studied business. My goal is to (one day) replace my dad in his car dealership, Al Packer Ford.”

“If you were to ask me the question: ‘What three things was I looking for in a school?’ I would say academics, school spirit, and is it easy to interact with the coaches? Do they make you feel at home? I would say Maryland has a phenomenal business program just from its reputation. When you think of Maryland, most people know it is a good lacrosse school. After being able to see Big Bird Stadium, you could imagine the liveliness of energy the stadium brings in a school gathering. Finally, after visiting twice, I could say say it just got easier and easier, talking to all the coaches. Maryland was always a childhood dream and I’m glad I could reach this goal.”

Thank You: “I would like to thank all my coaches, but a special thanks to Shane Rye, head coach of The Benjamin School. He took me in as a 6th grader who really didn’t know much about the game. Shane saw talent. He has worked hard with me to showcase my abilities. Lastly, thanks to my father. Without him taking his time to take me to lacrosse events I wouldn’t be where I’m at now.”
