Fresh off its fourth straight GHSA A-AAAAA State Championship, The Westminster Schools in Atlanta, GA, is celebrating the accomplishments of a number of underclassmen heading into the summer recruiting season. The Wildcats won their state title with a roster full of young talent from the Class of 2015 and 2016 that will be on display at a number of recruiting events this summer. Westminster is one of the top ten winningest programs in the country since 2000 according to LaxPower.com.
Annie Calfo (2015) – A transfer from Chatham, NJ, this midfielder/ attacker boasts blazing speed and great stickwork. She qualified for the US Lacrosse National Tournament team from Georgia after running a 4.98 40-yard dash at the tryouts. Calfo finished the 2013 season with 31 goals and nine assists and was near the top of the team rankings in draw controls.
Chandler McCamey (2015) – McCamey has come a long way in a short period of time. Having only picked up the sport as a freshman, she has rocketed to the top of the prospect list in the state with her great athleticism and scoring ability. She tallied 29 goals this spring and is also representing Georgia at the National Tournament in May. This summer, she has been invited to play with the Philly STEPS Elite 2015 team at the Capital Cup and Champions Cup in Midlothian, VA.
Cabell Zakas (2016) – The freshman sensation caught the state by storm this spring with a school record 60-goal first year campaign and an honorable mention all-state selection. She had five goals and three assists in the state finals, leading Westminster to its fourth straight GHSA State Championship. This summer she will play at the US Lacrosse National Tournament with Team Georgia and at the Champions Cup, Capital Cup, and The Grind with XTeam.
Kate Cordle (2016) – A rising star with skills on both ends of the field, Cordle dazzled scouts last summer at the Northstar Invitational as an attacker and then proceeded to make the state all-star game after her first year in high school as a defensive midfielder. She will play at the National Tournament at Lehigh in May and return to Northstar in July.
One other rising star from Westminster to watch is Isabelle Dadd (2017). Originally from Maryland, Dadd dominated the middle school league this spring and is ready to fire up her high school career. With a brother that plays at Bucknell and a sister at Villanova, Dadd’s comes from strong Division I lacrosse pedigree. She will be playing with her old Baltimore club team, the Skywalkers, throughout the summer.
