Chaparral (AZ) rising senior goalie Alex Larson has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Rutgers University.

Alex Larson ledger:

Alex Larson

High school: Chaparral High School, Scottsdale, Arizona

Graduation year: 2014

Position: Goalie

College choice: Rutgers University (committed in Fall, 2012

Club affiliation: Force Lacrosse Arizona, FCA U17 Team, West Coast Starz

Major lacrosse honors, camps and showcases: 2013 Under Armour Underclass – West Team; 2013 Champion All-America Showcase; 2013 & 2012 US Lacrosse All-American; 2012 Maverik Showtime All-Star; 3X All-State; 3X State All Star; 2013 Adrenaline Shootout All-Tournament Team; 2012 NSCLA w/ West Coast Starz; 2X HS Team Defensive POY

What will you major in/study: Marine Biology or Business

Why did you choose school: “After visiting and seriously looking at about 8 schools, Rutgers stood out for several reasons. Head Coach (Brian) Brecht and Coach (Craig) McDonald proved themselves by building a winning program at Sienna. All the coaches go out of their way with recruits/commits. Rutgers has a great reputation academically, is strong in the majors I am considering, and the athletic facilities overall are incredible.”

Outlook for your high school team: “We only lost seven seniors last season and our defense is young. I think we will be very strong on the defensive side of the field. We lost our three top offensive players though so some of our younger guys will need to step up if we want to get back to the state championship game.”

Thank Yous “I want to thank my mom and dad for all the sacrifices they have made so that I can be on the field, and to my grandfather (Bill, Stevens, Drexel ’63) for putting the goalie stick in my LEFT hand. I play lacrosse left handed but am naturally right-handed.”
