South River (MD) rising junior defender/midfielder Madeline Szanyi has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Hofstra University.

What will you major in/study? Undecided

Why did you choose school? “As soon as I visited I knew it was the place for me. Then when I met Coach Shannon Smith I knew I wanted to play for her. Plus, Hofstra is very good academically.”

Outlook for your High School team? “We will get better and build on last season. We had a great new coach last year, Samantha Farrell, and with another year under her I know we can challenge for another championship.”
