Class AAAA championship of the Ontario Federation of Schools Athletic Association Friday by defeating St. Peter’s (Peterborough), 8-3.
St. Michael’s (30-2, ranked No. 4 in the Midwest by TopLaxRecruits.com) went 4-0 overall over two days and allowed just 10 goals. The Gaels had finished second in the tourney each of the past three years.
The title was the team’s third under coach Alex Frescura, and was led by the defensive unit of Nic Ellerton (2016, BU commit), Warren Jeffery (2015, Vermont signee) and Ciaron Costello (2016, Robert Morris) as well as goalie Kyle Hebert (2016, Stony Brook).
The offence was led by Jonathan Donville (2017, Cornell), Keaton Thomson (2017, Marquette), Jonathon McConvey (2018, Vermont) and Conor McClelland (2016, Marquette).
St. Michael’s lost only to Hill Academy and Hill Academy II this year SMC were 36-2 with the two loses against The Hill Academy, also of Toronto, Ontario.
