Grant Van Fossen scored three goals to lead Delbarton (N.J.) to a stunning 7-3 victory Saturday over host St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) in boys’ lacrosse action.
The Friars (4-1) were ranked No. 3 by TopLaxRecruits.com coming into play.
John Schlisler had eight saves for Delbarton (2-0), last year’s Tournament of Champion runner-up in New Jersey. The Green Wave led from start to finish, taking a 3-1 halftime edge.
Garden City (NY) 10, Duxbury (MA) 1
Justin Guterding had five goals and an assist and Dan Dolan (eight saves) was unscored upon for three quarters as the No. 7 Trojans (4-1) built a 6-0 halftime lead and rolled past the No. 19 Dragons.
Severn (MD) 14, Marbelhead (MA) 9
Mike Bucci won all 10 of his face-offs, had 10 groundballs and two goals and Ryan Lamon had two goals and three assists to lead Severn (8-2).
Ian Maag had two goals and four assists for Marblehead (1-2).
Avon Grove (PA) 6, Ridley 4 (PA)
Will Schreiner made 13 saves and Matt King scored twice for the Red Devils (6-0) who dealt the host Green Raiders (4-1) their first defeat at the Relentless Cup.
Avon Grove presented the HEADstrong Foundation with a check for $1,078 after the game through a fundraising project for the foundation.
Moorestown (N.J.) 8, Ridge (N.J.) 7
Michael Handlan had four goals and an assist and Matt Olbrich had two goals and won 10 of 17 face-offs for the Quakers (3-0) in their won over the red Devils (2-1).
Eric Scott led Ridge with four goals.
Girls
Garden City (N.Y.) 12, Darien (CT) 11, 2 OT
Kerry Defliese (two goals) scored with eight seconds left in the second overtime to lift the No. 6 Trojans, who had to fight back from a 7-2 halftime deficit.
Jackie Jahelka (four goals, one assist) tied the game midway through the second overtime and Tara DeAngelo (four goals, one assist) sent the game into overtime.
Jena Fritts and Dillon Schoen each had three goals for the Blue Wave (2-1), the defending FCIAC champions.
Manhasset (N.Y.) 14, Chatham (N.J.) 7
Lindsey Ronbeck, Sarah Barcia and Natalie Stefan each had three goals to lead No. 14 Manhasset (3-0) past the No. 15 Cougars (2-1).
Kristen Maiorano had two goals for Chatham.
Moorestown (NJ) 15, Cherry Creek (CO) 4
Marie McCool fired in six goals for the No. 5 Quakers (4-0), who dealt the Bruins (4-1) their first loss.
