Appoquinimink (DE) senior defenseman Matt Minner has made a commitment to play Division III lacrosse at Cabrini College.

Academic honors: Coaching youth lacrosse team for high school feeder program; volunteer for the Leukemia Research Foundation of DE; honor roll every marking period
What will you major in/study? Business Administration, minor in Marketing
Why did you choose the school? “I loved the campus. My family is very familiar with the school because my brother went there and loved everything Cabrini had to offer. But what made my final decision is coach (Steve) Colfer. When I had the opportunity to sit down in his office he spoke to me in a way were you could just tell that he has a strong program. He reminded me of my dad, always reminding me to never quit and to keep with everything you started.”
What are your thoughts on this past HS lacrosse season/team’s outlook for next season? “Last season was very successful. We brought home AHS’s first Blue Hen Conference Flight A championship and made a appearance to the DIAA playoffs as the 11th seed in the state (12-3 record). This upcoming season is going to be one to remember. Instead of complaining after the first round knockout last year, it only took the team about 2 weeks after the season before we started working out together, holding captains practices, and having captains meetings on a regular basis. With our team’s work ethic and our inspiration from our coaches, I think this will be AHS’s best lacrosse team yet!”

I would like to thank my school coaches, Coach Kern, Coach Rutter, and Coach Fulton, for inspiring me during the season and always pushing me to get better. and I would like to thank my club coach, Coach Zwickert, for all the outstanding teaching he has done for me and how much he helped with the recruiting process.”
