MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. – Ryan Archer tallied three goals and two assists to boost Jamesville Dewitt to a 9-6 victory over Yorktown for the NYSPHSAA Class B State Championship Saturday at Middletown High school.

The title is the fifth for Jamesville-DeWitt, and fourth in the past decade (2007, 2010, 2011, 2016).

“This was incredible,” said Archer. “It was awesome. We brought the intensity. Our sideline and our fans were getting us into it and we built on that.

“We are the state champs! This is awesome, I’m out of words but this feels awesome.”

Yorktown’s Kyle Casey (three goals) knotted the game at 4 at the 2:36 mark of the third quarter but Jamesville DeWitt (21-2) responded.

Anthony Digiovanni found Archer with 1:12 left in the third and Anthony Digiovanni made it 6-4 with 10:50 left in the game. Casey scored with 8:29 to play, but Grayson Burns put JD up 7-5.l

Burns tallied three goals and two assists and Griffin Cook tallied two goals for JD. Dylan Fleischman had 10 saves.

“I couldn’t be happier at this point,” said Jamesville DeWitt head coach Jamie Archer. “My son is on this team and I wanted to get one before he left. In the fourth quarter I wanted them to just bear down.”

Archer said his team executed well when it counted.

“When they started inching back and we knew we had to pick it up again,” he said. “We couldn’t just lay back and that’s what we did, we kept putting it in the back of the net.”
