BALTIMORE – Shack Stanwick had five goals and three assists Friday as host Boys’ Latin remained perfect with a 15-9 homecoming victory over Gilman School in the MIAA “A” Conference.

The Lakers – No. 1 in the Warrior/TopLaxRecruits Rankings – improved to 15-0 overall and 8-0 in the MIAA. No. 15 Gilman fell to 9-6 and 5-3.

“This game was amazing, it is homecoming and we had a huge crowd,” said Stanwick. “Gilman is a great team, it was a big win. All around it was an awesome day.”

Charlie Demuth gave the Greyhounds a 1-0 lead, but the Lakers went on a seven-goal run until the 5:32 mark in the second quarter when Tyler Ruhl made it 8-2.

Junior middie Anthony Wyler also had a hat trick for the Lakers.

Gilman was led by senior attackman Tyler Ruhl who had two goals and an assist for the Greyhounds.

. “I thought we did a good job of handling a rough start to get better and make plays,” said Gilman coach Brooks Matthews. “We were very excited and ready to play but BL dominated face offs and played more efficiently offensively early in the game and was more than we could ultimately overcome.”

Boys’ Latin will look to close out the season undefeated next Tuesday when it faces archrival St. Paul’s at home. “The BL and Gilman game, the BL/St. Paul’s, game and the BL and Loyola-Blakefield game, they are as intense as they get,” said Boys’ Latin head coach Bob Shriver. “Honestly, the league is what it is, the fact that its BL and Gilman and BL and St Paul’s makes it more significant.”

Gilman will close its MIAA season at home vs. red hot McDonogh, which beat Calvert Hall on Friday at home, 9-4, to move into second place (6-2).
