“Our main goal today was teamwork,” said Muldoon, a senior headed to Harvard. “Our chemistry since day one of this season has been unbelievable and it really showed today.

“Our whole offense and defense and Kubs in goal she really stepped up for us. This feels amazing. This is going to start the momentum going into this week and eventually up to Cortland.”

Garden City started on a 4-0 run and led, 4-2, at halftime. Muldoon scored twice to make it 6-2 and ESM never got closer than 6-3. Brook McDaid tallied three goals and Juliana Kubler grabbed eight saves for Garden City.

“Coming in having to face an opponent like Eastport-South Manor, you know they are the defending state champs for a reason,” said Garden City head coach Diane Chapman. “They are an awesome team. They had an incredible season. We knew we would definitely have to play our best for the outcome to go our way.

“We were able to score some goals early. They had some good saves down there. We feel awesome; these girls have worked so hard. They really wanted to get past were they got last year, which they did. Now we are in the final four and you never know what could happen.”

Kaeli Huff had two goals and an assist and Jamie Biskup tallied two goals while Dayna Martinetto grabbed nine saves for Eastport-South Manor.

“We didn’t come to play,” said Eastport South Manor head coach Becky Thorn. “I think they overlooked them to be honest; either that or the nerves got to them.”
