Katie Samson presents a check for $10,000 to Magee Rehab Center. The Katie Samson Foundation Festival is in its 16th year and featured 27 games, the largest single-day high school event of the year.

The Festival – which has raised well over $1 million for spinal cord research and development and is the single largest one-day HS event of the year in the nation – honors the spirit of Katie Samson. Samson attended Radnor High School where she was a goal keeper for the girls’ lacrosse team. She went on to study Art History at Middlebury College where she also played Division III lacrosse and helped her team capture a National Championship in 1999. The following winter, Samson suffered a spinal cord injury while sledding in a nearby park and became a quadriplegic. She continues to live an active life, playing many adaptive sports.

Brunswick (8-2) led 5-4 early in the second half when it took control of the game. Reilly Walsh scored four goals and Alex Buckanavage had three goals and three assists. Keyveat Postell led the Fords (10-4) with a goal and two assists.

In another key game, Upper Dublin (10-0) edged Spring-Ford (11-1), 10-9, in a battle of undefeated teams. Michael Sowers had a goal and seven assists while Michael Mullen and Max Winebrake each scored three goals for the Cards. Matt Dellacroce had two gopals and two assists for Spring-Ford.
