Girls’ recruit: Hunterdon Central (N.J.) junior midfield-defender Greer commits to George Mason

Hunterdon Central Regional (N.J.) junior midfield-defender Kira Greer has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at George Mason University.

Kira Greer ledger:

Kira Greer

High school: Hunterdon Central Regional High School, Flemington, N.J.

Graduation year: 2014

Position: midfield/defense

College choice: George Mason University

Club affiliation:
T3 Elite

Major lacrosse honors: 2012 Brine National High School All-American representing the New Jersey Region;
2nd Team All Skyland Conference Midfield

What will you major in/study: undecided

Why did you choose school:
“I chose George Mason because it is everything I want in a school. I visited the campus multiple times and I loved it. After I watched the girls play and met all the coaches, I knew it was the perfect fit. The chemistry between the team is amazing and I loved watching them play. There are so many academic opportunities as well and I know it will provide me with a great education.”

Outlook for your high school team: “We have a lot to prove this year. We made it to the Hunterdon Warren Sussex finals last year, and this year it is time to bring the trophy home. We also made it into the state playoffs, but were eliminated first round. We have a lot of chemistry this year, so I think we will be able to bring it all together and compete well against the tough teams in our conference.”

Thank Yous:
“I would first like to thank my family. From day one, they have always been there supporting me. My dad was always the person I went to for advice and pep talks, while my mom kept everything organized and always offered her kind words. My older sister, Brittany played lacrosse, so if it was not for her, who knows if I would have even picked up a stick. I would also like to thank my older brother, Hunter. He was always the one playing with me in the backyard, teaching me new dodges and tricks. I really do not think I would have been able to get this far without him.

“I want to thank my high school coaches, Mary Beth Driscoll and Laura Sproul, as well as my club coaches, Cristina Maurizi and Kat Holley for pushing me hard and always believing in me. Last but not least, thank you to my teammates and friends for supporting me on and off the field.”
