The Milton (GA) girls’ lacrosse team rallied from an 8-1 deficit and defeated Archbishop Spaulding (MD) of the IAAM conference in a game played at the University of North Carolina today.

Milton (4-0), is ranked No. 15 in the Brine/TopLaxRecruits.com Rankings and plays No. 16 Vero Beach (FL) on Saturday at UNC.

Milton scored the first goal of the game, then Archbishop Spaulding (1-1) scored eight unanswered tallied. Milton made several adjustments and closed the gap to 10-7 at halftime.

Milton opened up the second half scoring four unanswered goals to take the lead at 11-10. The game went back and forth until Milton went up 16-15 with 2:12 remaining.

Mackenzie Lech had four goals and an assist as well as five draw controls and Emily Velez scored four more to lead the Eagles. Jessi Masinko had three goals, two assists and two interceptions while Brooke Winsness scored twice and Hannah Davis collected three assists, five groundballs and four draw controls. Davis also helped Milton win 9 of the 14 second-half draws.

Pinnacle (AZ) 13, Horizon (AZ) 9

Pinnacle, the two-time defending state champion, improved to 3-0 with a win over the team it defeated in last year’s state semis. The Pioneers have won 27 straight games.

Boys

Severn School (MD) 14, St. Peter & Paul (MD) 5

Graham Davis had four goals and an assist while Michael Lemon and Tyler Perreten each had two goals and two assists to lead Severn (2-0). Andrew DeStefano and Jack Munroe each added two goals and an assist and Trey Johnson had 13 saves for the winners.

Georgetown Prep (MD) 11, St. Paul’s School (MD) 6

The Hoyas, ranked 10th in the Warrior/TopLaxRecruits Rankings, improved to 2-0 with the victory over the No. 7 Crusaders (1-2).

Hoover (AL) 10, Vestavia Hills (AL) 8 (via @HooverBoysLax)

David Arnold had four goals and an assist, Dan Buggs and Nick Egorshin each scored twice and Kyler Savage dished seven assists for Hoover (5-4), the defending state champion.

Coyote (CO) 19, Smoky Hill (CO) 8 (@CoyoteLax)

Chad Kreuzer had six goals and four assists and Andrew Zeier addesd four goals and four assists.
