Loyola Blakefield (MD) 2017 attackman Phil Wies has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Furman University.
Phil Wies ledger:

High School: Loyola Blakefield, MD
Graduation Year: 2017
Position: Attack
College Choice: Furman University (ConnectLAX college profile)
Club Affiliation: Baltimore Breakers 2017
Lacrosse Camps, Showcases: B’more Showcase
Academic Honors: 2nd Honors
Major: Undecided
Why did you choose Furman? “I chose Furman because I felt really comfortable with the coaches when I went down there for a camp and a visit. The coaches really welcomed me and made me feel like Furman was home. I also love how although Furman is a new program, it is growing and is an excellent lacrosse program. Furman’s campus is also unreal. Everything about the campus blew my mind. I also liked how Furman has a strong academic reputation and very commendable facilities.”
Thoughts on past lacrosse season. and upcoming season: “I thought our JV lacrosse team had a great season winning the MIAA A championship. For Loyola’s upcoming season, I’m excited to potentially help out our program and win another MIAA A Championship. Playing for the Breakers really helped me get recruited, especially since our coaches and team have a strong reputation. We all played as a family this summer. I’m really excited to get back at it with my team in the fall and welcome back some players that were injured during the summer.”
Thank You: “I really want to thank my head Coach for the Breakers, JJ Pearl, who really helped me grow as a player the past two years and make me become who I am now and help me get recruited. I also want to thank my other, Coach Rusty Ward, who really developed me the past six years by switching me from midfield to attack. Lastly, I would like to thank my family for being so supportive in all the years I have played lacrosse.”
Other schools considered: High Point, Ohio State
