At 6-foot-6, Chaminade College Prep 2023 Phillip Robson believes he has the tools to become an elite goaltender. This summer he is addressing areas of need.

“Throughout the high school season I switched up my stance and I am more comfortable with it now,” said Robson, who served as the backup for a team that reached the Missouri state quarterfinals. “I am taking shots every day from my teammates and scrimmaging with my friends.

“With my height I take a really short step and only run a 3-step arc from post to post. I think my height is a big advantage, and I know I need to work a lot harder on my low shots and my quickness.”

Robson will be one player to watch June 17 when he competes in the Victory Events Southeast Elite 150 Showcase at Ted Rhodes Park, Nashville, TN. The event has limited spots open for defensemen and LSMs and midfielders; Click here to register and for more information (see more below).

Robson has also been working on his communication skills and general lacrosse IQ.

“I have gotten a lot better at talking to my defense and talking through other team’s plays,” he said. “We’ll watch film and see how they set up on man up and talk through the plays. I also feel I am a lot better at clearing.”

Robson was happy to play behind Chaminade Prep’s Jack Sorth, who helped prepare for a probable starting role in 2023.

i”I have been playing with him for four years,” said Robson. “I try to mimic a lot of stuff he does. In the showcase I want to see how good I can get. I want to see if I can stop tougher kids, the top recruits in my class.”
