Avon Old Farms (CT) senior attackman AJ Rocco has made a commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Yale University.

AJ. Rocco ledger:

AJ Rocco (Right)

High School: Avon Old Farms School, Avon, Connecticut

Graduation Year: 2013

Position: Attack

College Choice: Yale University

Club Affiliation: CT Bulldog Elite

Major Lacrosse Honors: 2x Under Armour All-American New England team (Champions in 2011)

Academic Honors: Headmaster’s List student (highest academic honor)

What will you major/study? Economics

Why did you choose Yale? “Yale combines a very balanced mix between academics and athletics, something I was looking for in a college. Also, my relationship with assistant coach Graham Niemi, who is also my summer league coach, really had an impact on my decision. After visiting the campus and meeting with Coach (Andy) Shay, I knew Yale was where I wanted to be.”

What is your HS team’s outlook for the season? “This year we have a pre-season rank of 11th in the
country by Inside Lacrosse. Our league, the Founder’s League, is very competitive, so there should be many close games.”

Are you excited to keep playing with your brother in college? “We have been on the same line since we started playing, and it is something I would like to continue at the college level. Hopefully playing together will continue over the four years at Yale.”

Thank You: “I would like to thank all of the coaches I have had over the years, especially the ones at my time at Avon. A special thanks to Coach Flanagan for all that he has done for me, especially the college recruiting process.”
