BL, ranked No. 10 in the Epoch Lacrosse North America Rankings, remains in the playoff hunt at 4-2 (12-3 overall). The Gaels are 2-4 in the league and 8-7 overall.

Jimmy Lucas (three goals) helped the Gaels rally from a 7-0 deficit and pull within 9-6 with 7:55 left in the third quarter. But Boys’ Latin, with so much depth, added to add to the lead with the help of Shewell and Patrick Spencer who had a goal and six assists.

After a Shawn Carter moved the Gaels within, 12-9, to open the fourth quarter, the Lakers then went on a 5-1 run to ice it.

Underclassmen, Koby Russell and Anthony Wyler scored two goals apiece down the stretch for BL.

“From the very beginning coach Shriver wanted us to be all in and to get everybody involved,” said Shewell is committed to Syracuse University. “I thought the defense played great today; they stepped up.”

The win was key for the Lakers, coming off a 12-10 loss to St, Mary’s on Tuesday.

Gaels coach Stephen Berger was pleased with his team’s resilience.

“I tell that to my boys every week you have to come prepared,” he said. “And the fight that they gave, I am more than happy about and you have to build each time you are out there.”
