Archer Senft is a McDonogh (MD) lacrosse player who is recovering from a paralyzing neck injury sustained while swimming this summer. On Sunday, Nov. 1, five high school lacrosse teams will compete to raise awareness and funds for Archer’s recovery at Russo Stadium on the campus of Calvert Hall in Towson, Md.

“Ever since we heard of Archer’s accident, we as a family have been praying for Archer and the Senft family daily. When Dave Huntley, Travis Crane and I began talking about this tournament, we thought about what we could do to help the Senft family. That’s what makes the lacrosse community so special. One day you are competitors, and the next day you are supporting each other. Sunday, Nov. 1 will truly be a special day in that we are able to do both at Calvert Hall by keeping this sport in perspective and playing for something bigger than ourselves,” said Calvert Hall head coach Bryan Kelly.

McDonogh head coach Andy Hilgartner added, “On behalf of the McDonogh School community and the Senft family, we want to thank each player and coach participating in the Foundation Lacrosse Classic this fall. We are incredibly grateful for the support of Archer and his family by the lacrosse community and especially appreciate Travis Crane, Bryan Kelly, and others responsible for hosting this event. The spirit of something like this captures the essence of high school lacrosse and a community trying to support one of it’s own. Thank you again and best of luck to all the teams on Nov. 1.”

This year’s event will feature five 9th/10th grade teams (Calvert Hall, McDonogh, St. Paul’s, Gilman and Paul VI). The schedule of games can be found at www.foundationlax.com. All proceeds from this event will go to the Archer Senft Special Needs Trust. There will be no admission charge but fans, friends and families are encouraged to make a donation at the event.
