2/8/2023 MCKINNEY, TX – Alana O’Brien, a junior goalie from Mckinney, TX, has committed to play D2 lacrosse at Rockhurst University. Alana, who is homeschooled and plays club for GRIT Dallas & Frisco Fury, was named MVP of District Championship Team Texas & North Texas in 2021 and was also a 2022 American Select player.

Why did you choose Rockhurst?: I chose Rockhurst because I have never actually felt at home with a team before and their energy and the way they are able to make a player feel special no matter their age drew me in. It is really hard to be myself and I was finally able to with this group of girls. The school itself was just perfect for me. The size and what it all had to offer.
Who do you wish to thank for helping you achieve this honor?: I want to thank my parents. I don’t think I would be able to play this sport without all the sacrifices they make everyday. They really deserve the world. I also want to thank a few of my coaches from when I was younger for motivating me through hard times (especially when I wanted to quit) because I wouldn’t have committed to this school without them.
