NEW EGYPT, N.J. – Keegan Barger, Claire Dunbar, Bethany Lally, Catie May and Charlotte Haggerty each scored to lead Sky Walkers 2017 Blue to a 5-1 victory over the Yellow Jackets 2017 Huff on Saturday in the 2017 championship game in the LAX for the Cure Summer Tournament at New Egypt High School in New Egypt, N.J.

“This is one of our favorite tournaments of the season,” said Andie Aldave, a midfielder from National champion McDonogh School, who had a standout game all-around. “We always play the best of the best competition here.”
Kelly Marra scored the lone goal for Yellow Jackets, a club team based on Long Island, N.Y.
The Sky Walkers Club team, based in Maryland, ended its season with a undefeated record of 23-0-1. According to Aldave, the team wanted to go out strong.
“This was our last ride,” she said.
The three-day event has two purposes: to provide a highly competitive tournament that brings many college coaches as well as to raise money for the fight against breast cancer. Funds raised go to the North, Central and South Jersey affiliates of the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
The event was created by STEPS Lacrosse and drew over 250 teams and will see as many as 150 college coaches in one of the biggest recruiting events of the summer.
The tournament has raised nearly $2 million over several years.
“We’ve had a few parents struck by breast cancer,” said head coach Mike Lynch said. “So I was hoping we could come here and honor them by playing well.”
Aldave – a member of the U.S. Under 19 National Team who has committed to continue her lacrosse career at Notre Dame – called the tournament title an ideal way to end her club career.
The Sky Walkers, who played Yellow Jackets to a 7-7 tie in their initial game Saturday morning, dominated the championship game in the rematch to capture their initial tournament title.
“We play this tournament every year,” Lynch said. “It draws the best of the best competition. We did a great job.”
