Columbia (N.J.) 2018 LSM Jake Walthour III has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Syracuse University.

Lacrosse honors, camps, showcases: Named to All Star teams at Maverick Showtime, MVP Delaware, Philly Showcase and Inside Lacrosse

Academic honors: Honors level student with a GPA of 3.4

Service: “This summer I plan on starting a local lacrosse camp for younger kids.”

Intended major: Undecided

Why did you choose Syracuse: “I chose Syracuse because they have a tradition of excellence in lacrosse. They work really hard. They have great coaching. They win championships. I like how Coach (Lelan) Rogers and (John) Desko teach the game. I also really enjoy the school and it’s a great place to be. I have a sister who currently attends SU and she loves it, so I feel comfortable there.”

Outlook for HS team in 2015: “My high school team is improving and I hope to be an impact player. We have a new coach, so the outlook for the season really is exciting”

Thank You: “I’d like to thank God first. I thank my family. They sacrifice a lot for me to travel and play. Also, thanks to my adviser from Salisbury, Mr. Corkery. He always believed in me. Also my coaches, Bobby Wynne, Kevin Martin and Ken Miller and my trainer, John Lade. I also thank my friends from Salisbury and Columbia HS and my teachers especially Mrs. Wood, Mr. Zahn, Mr. Gilbert, Mr Phelps, Mr. Siff and Mrs. Siff. Then thanks to all of my old teammates from Express and current Sting and Sweetlax teammates for making me compete hard.”
