Wednesday’s boys’ results: Inter-Ac invitational semis set; MD teams advance in state playoffs

There will be an interesting rematch when the Inter-Ac Invitational semifinals commence Monday at Cabrini College (Pa.).

In the nightcap at 7 p.m., second-seeded Episcopal Academy (PA) will meet third-seeded Haverford School (PA) – the team that knocked the Churchmen out of a first-place tie (with an 11-6 win) and prevented them from sharing their first league title since 1998 just six days ago.

EA advanced by whipping Hill School, 15-1, and Haverford School toppled Springside Chestnut Hill Academy (PA), 14-7. Reilly Hupfeldt led the Fords (13-7) with three goals and Grant Ament added two goals and three assists.

In the EA win, the Churchmen bolted to an 11-0 halftime lead. Curtis Zappala had three goals and two assists and Peter Gayhardt scored three goals.

Meanwhile, top-seeded Malvern Prep (PA) – ranked No. 6 by TopLaxRecruits.com – rolled past Germantown Academy, 18-6, and will play fourth-seeded Lawrenceville School (NJ) in the first semifinal Monday at 5 p.m. at Cabrini College. Lawrenceville ousted Penn Charter (PA), 12-10.

For Malvern Prep, Ryan Hilburn had four goals and an assist and Adam Goldner scored three goals.

Dylan Key and PJ Finley each had four goals for Lawrenceville and Ray Vandegrift led Penn Charter with five goals.

MD Public Quarterfinals
Fallston 17, Cambridge 5 (East Region)

Kyle D’Onofrio collected five goals and three assists, Jeremy Scranton had four goals and Marc Badger added three goals and two assists as Fallston (14-4) advanced to the Maryland Public 2A-1A semifinals with an easy win in the East finals.
