Why did you choose Bellarmine University, Men’s D1? “I visited many colleges throughout my recruiting process, ultimately looking for a school where I could make a lasting impact both on and off the field. After meeting with Coach Whitley and the rest of the staff, I really felt like there was an opportunity for me to contribute to the team early in my career and ultimately become an integral part of the vision they have for the program. The icing on the cake was that Coach Whitley was a goalie himself and truly understands the mental, physical, and physiological components of the position which as a goalie, is all you can ask for. I can’t wait to spend four years learning and growing from someone like him. From an academic standpoint, I was drawn to the small school atmosphere and class environment with the big ACC environment of the University of Louisville right down the street being a bonus. This type of environment is something I have come to love from being at Virginia Episcopal School. My plans are to major in Exercise Sports Science (Kinesiology). With Bellarmine ranking as a top 20 program nationally in this area, along with being able to compete at the highest level athletically, it was a perfect fit for me.”
Is there anything else you would like to share? “Most importantly I would like to thank my parents and my sisters who have sacrificed so much for me to be able to achieve my dreams of playing lacrosse at the collegiate level. I would like to thank my second family (Josh, Jamie, Georgia, and Holland Denton) for providing me with a home away from home in Maryland during my summers. Lastly, I would like to thank my teammates, as well as all my coaches, for continuing to push me day in and day out so I could compete at the highest level, especially the goalie coaches I had as mentors along the way: Coach Bernlohr UMD ’16, Coach Riorden UALB ’16, Coach Olmert UNC ’89, Coach Schwartz OWU ’89, Brian Balkam UNC ’17, Troy Exum UNC ’23; and the countless others that have supported me along the way.”
What other colleges did you consider? Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, High Point University, Salisbury University, and VMI
