From US Lacrosse
US Lacrosse is providing AED grants to 14 lacrosse organizations nationwide to subsidize the cost of acquiring automated external defibrillators (AEDs). The grants, which total nearly $5,000, are made available through US Lacrosse’s partnership with Cardiac Science, a global leader in the manufacturing of AEDs and other cardiology products and services.
“The goal of US Lacrosse is to provide the safest possible environment for all participants, and having an AED unit on the sidelines or at a venue is certainly among the highest priorities,” said Meghan Mulford, programs manager at US Lacrosse. “We’re pleased to be able to help this year’s grant recipients overcome the financial barrier to acquiring AEDs, and encourage all member organizations to take advantage of US Lacrosse’s discounted opportunity to purchase these potentially life-saving machines.”
Statistics indicate that 360,000 people of all ages experience out-of-hospital sudden cardiac arrest in North America every year, with early intervention serving among the most effective life-saving measures. The application of CPR and defibrillation prior to the arrival of EMS on the scene helps saves four out of 10 victims. Therefore the presence of an onsite AED can make all the difference.
The US Lacrosse AED Grant Program provides recipients with a highly discounted rate for a Powerheart AED G3 Plus Automatic Unit, which carries a 7-year warranty. Since 2010, US Lacrosse has provided over $46,000 in AED grants to lacrosse teams, leagues and organizations nationwide. In addition, the US Lacrosse and Cardiac Science partnership makes automated external defibrillators available to all US Lacrosse members at discounted rates.
