From US Lacrosse Press Release

US Lacrosse is now accepting applications for the 2013 Michael Breschi Scholarship through July 1, 2013. The college scholarship is a one-time award of $2,500 for each of the two recipients.

US Lacrosse, Joe Breschi and his family established the scholarship in 2007 to honor the life and memory of Michael Breschi, son of the University of North Carolina’s head coach, Joe Breschi. The Michael Breschi Scholarship is awarded annually to two graduating high school seniors who plan to attend college and are the son or daughter of a lacrosse coach. The parent or guardian can be either a male or female coach for high school or college, and should be a full-time employee of an educational institution. Other criteria considered include extracurricular activity, internships, community service and employment experience.

“Freshman year as a student athlete at Loyola was everything I expected and more,” said Maddy Blakeman, one of the 2012 scholarship recipients. “I feel that my high school experience prepared me well for everything that college has thrown at me. Being a part of a number of extracurricular activities, community service groups, as well as my high school lacrosse team, I learned excellent time management skills. Now as a college student, I have figured out how to balance everything ensuring that even with a packed schedule I can get everything done in a day that I need to.”
