Coach Comment:
“Sophie is very ‘coachable’ and willing to make mistakes in practice to push the envelop of her skill-set in an effort to become a better player. On the field Sophie has all the technical skills one could ask for in an attacker. She excels with the ball, and is equally adept with both her left and right hands. An explosive first step puts defenders on their heels. Her strong lacrosse IQ and superb field vision enables her to recognize when to finish hard to goal or to dish off to a teammate for a better scoring opportunity. Sophie does not need the ball to be a valuable offensive player. Her ability to move without the ball, clearing space or setting off-ball picks and her exceptional communication skills, elevates all the play around her. Her communication skills, keen lacrosse IQ and relentless effort also come into play when the team is tasked with re-defending. Her tenaciousness is contagious and catalyzes all of her teammates to a higher level of effort. In summary, Sophie is one of those rare athletes that combines the humility to work hard on her skills away from practice, the confidence to try something new and the capacity to inspire her teammates to find the joy in the game.”
