McDonogh School (MD) has been named the Preseason No. 1 squad in the first North America Girls’ Rankings by TopLaxRecruits.com.
The Eagles have won 69 straight games and claimed four straight Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland (IAAM) championships. In each of the last three years McDonogh has been named the “National champion” in all national rankings.
McDonogh returns a number of major Division I signees in a strong seniors class. The group includes attack players Casey Black (Duke) and Grace Muller (Notre Dame), midfielders Sam Burgess (Florida), Posey Valis (Virginia) and Devon Horine (Navy) and defender Maggie Preas (Virginia). The key juniors are attack Megan Whittle (Maryland) and defender Steff Holmes (Maryland), the key sophomore is midfielder Elizabeth George and senior Allison Silber (Michigan) is the goalie.
“We lost of lot of talent and leadership from last year’s senior class,” said McDonogh coach Chris Robinson. “It’s going to be an interesting year. Talent-wise, we have a lot, but we’ve got to prove it on the field.”
