The TopLaxRecruits Mid-Atlantic Preseason Boys’ Rankings
1. McDonogh (MD) 0-0 (Last Year: 18-1)
The defending MIAA “A” champion Eagles lose star players Jackson Morrill (Yale), Barrett Sutley (Penn State), Armand Medghalchi (Princeton), and goaltender Sean Lanier (Wagner). They still have plenty of star power in attackman Jack Parr (Brown), defensemen Brandon Shure (Johns Hopkins) and BJ Farrare (Loyola), and FOGO Chris Wilson (Air Force). They open the regular season March 11 against Durham Academy (NC).
2. Calvert Hall (MD) 0-0 (Last Year: 14-5)
The Cardinals lose Jack Kinnear (Villanova), Michael Fanshaw (Towson), Joe McSorley (Boston University), and George Rittenhouse (Air Force) from a year ago, but still have JT Bugliosi (Ohio State), Jacob Kelly (North Carolina) and Zach Green (Maryland). Their regular season beings on March 11 against defending Georgia state champion Lambert.
3. Gonzaga (DC) 0-0 (Last Year: 19-2)
The defending WCAC champion Purple Eagles lose some star power in Luke McCaleb (Brown), Nick McEvoy (Penn State), Avery Myers (Michigan), and Sam Offutt (Virginia). Returning to the squad include defenseman Will Rock (Virginia), attackman Jack Myers (Harvard), midfielders Brian Townsend (Michigan) and Jack Kavanagh, and goaltender Tim Marcille (Johns Hopkins). The season gets underway March 11 against St. Albans (VA).
4. Boys’ Latin (MD) 0-0 (Last Year: 14-4)
The MIAA “A” runner ups from a year ago lose top goaltender Jack Pezzulla (North Carolina), as well as Logan Wisnauskas (Syracuse), and Andrew Murrow (Fairfield). They do return Luke Shilling (Johns Hopkins), Jake Glatz (Penn State), Michael Ubriaco (Johns Hopkins), Basil Aburn (Syracuse), and Regan McNemar (Air Force). The Lakers begin their season at Oxbridge Academy (FL) on March 11.
5. St. Anthony’s (NY) 0-0 (Last Year: 14-2)
The defending NSCHSAA champions suffer losses with the departure of TJ Heagerty (Michigan), Jared Nugent (Villanova), and Lawrence Gailzia (Hofstra). Returning to the Friars include Terrance Mooney (Penn), William Waters (Army West Point), Brady Keneally (Johns Hopkins), and Danny Parker (Loyola), and Jake Bonomi (Michigan). Their season begins March 28 at Manhasset.
6. Bullis School (MD) 0-0 (Last Year: 21-2)
The defending IAC champions lose Nicky Petkevich (Colgate), Steven Shollenberger (Maryland), and Griff Gosnell (Cornell) from their squad a year ago. Returning to the team include top senior Alex Trippi (North Carolina), Michael Chiaramonte (Boston University), Kyle Fairbanks (Navy), and Bryson Shaw (Maryland). The regular season opens up March 11 against Plano West (TX).
7. Delbarton (NJ) 0-0 (Last Year: 22-2)
The defending NJ Class A Tournament of Champions lose Jack Kielty (Notre Dame), Troy Higgins (Providence), and Mike Rutter (Georgetown) to graduation. Returning to the team include Colin Crowley (Villanova), Luca Tria (Cornell), Garrett Samuelson (Tufts), and Miles Leniw (Yale). The Green Wave start their season March 29 against West Morris Central.
8. Victor (NY) 0-0 (Last Year: 22-0)
The defending NY Class A champions have not lost a game since the end of 2014, which is 44 games ago. The Blue Devils lose a ton of talent in Jamie Trimboli (Syracuse), TD Ierlan (Albany), and Ryan Maloney (Cornell), but return a heavy junior class, which includes Ross Pridemore (Loyola), Alex Mabbet (Johns Hopkins), Andrew Russell (Virginia), Mike Novitski (Virginia), Mitch Cain (Loyola), Chayse Ierlan (Cornell), and Sutton Boland (Penn State). The regular season opens up March 25 against Corning.
9. Cold Spring Harbor (NY) 0-0 (Last Year: )
The defending NY Class C”champions lose only Riley Cox (Loyola) from a year ago. They bring back a senior heavy class in Ian Laviano (Virginia), Mat Licciardi (Cornell), Taylor Strough (Fairfield), and JT Roselle (Marist). The Seahawks open up the regular season at Smithtown West on March 22.
10. Malvern Prep (PA) 0-0 (Last Year: 18-5)
The Friars depart Kyle Anderson (Harvard), A.J. Traynor (Loyola), Adam Goldner (Penn), and Ryan Murray (Penn) from last year’s squad. But there’s plenty of talent coming back for another run at an Inter-Ac title, including Billy Coyle (Cornell), Mike Fay (Notre Dame), Sean Christman (Boston University), Jack Traynor (Penn State), and Will Pettit (Malvern Prep). Malvern Prep opens up their season at Calvert Hall on March 21.
