No. 10 Darien (CT) rallied for a 12-10 victory over New Canaan Friday to claim the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference championship for the second staight year.

The Blue Wave (17-1) trailed 7-5, early in the second half, but Jena Fritz (five goals, three assists) led the comeback and Emily Stein (four goals) put them ahead for good, 10-9, with 7:30 to play.

Caylee Waters was strong in goal for Darien with eight saves and Hollis Perticone added two goals.

Darien – which also dealt the Rams a 14-7 loss in the regular season – begins Class L play in the state tournament today vs. Fairfield-Ludlowe. New Canaan (17-2) begins defense of its Class M state championship today vs. Daniel Hand.
