In a battle of the top team in the West and one of the top teams in the East, host Chaminade (NY) held on for a 5-4 victory over St. Ignatius Prep (CA) today in boys’ lacrosse.
The Flyers, ranked No. 2 by TopLaxRecruits.com, improved to 9-0, while the No. 11 Wildcats (17-1) suffered their first loss – but not without a fight.
Goalie Cyrus Scott was sensational in the cage for the Wildcats with 16 saves, keeping his team alive all day.
Chaminade led, 4-1, at halftime, but David Fleming (two goals) made it 4-2 before Ryan Lukacovic (three goals, one assist) made it 5-2. St. Ignatius responded as David Emery (one goal, one assist) scored quarter and David Fleming (two goals) drew St. Ignatius within 5-4 with 1:25 left in the third period.
Dan Fowler (nine saves) held strong the rest of the way in goal for the Flyers, who also got single goals from Jack Tigh and James Roberts.

Mt. Sinai (NY) 14, Shoreham-Wading River (NY) 8
Kasey Mitchell and Sydney Pirreca each had four goals to lead the the No. 11 Mustangs (10-0) past the River cats (8-2).
Paulina Constant had three goals to lead Shoreham-Wading River.
