From Press Release
Thirty-two top Western teams will compete Friday through Sunday in the Adrenaline Sonoma Elite Shootout at Sonoma State University (CA).
Teams will play 7-to-9 games with an All-Star game taking place early afternoon on Saturday. The Adrenaline Marketing team will orchestrate what has become a half-time staple for the Sonoma Shootout Series, the famed Slam Dunk Contest. The top three contenders who showcased their skills in the Adrenaline Feel-it Factory previously during the tournament will be selected to compete for the Slam Dunk title.
Tournament games will continue after the All-Star game, which are pertinent to determining the Sunday playoff schedule. Throughout the day, NCAA coaches will be holding positional clinics, as well as recruiting seminars and film analysis sessions on Friday and Saturday night.
“The Shootout is the original western recruiting event and has maintained a vital role in the landscape of our player’s recruitment success,” said Alex Cade, President of Adrenaline Lacrosse. “With the increased player talent level within the top group of the successful club programs, the overall skill level of the event keeps taking leaps and bounds.
“This tight group of teams, coaches, and Adrenaline members that attend the event every year really gives it a great family feel. I’m fired up to get back up to Sonoma.”
This year’s Elite Shootout will once again feature some of the most talented and athletic club teams in the western United States. Find a full list of attending teams below. Here is a look at some of this summer’s top five picks to win the 2013 Shootout:
ADVNC: Coming off an Adrenaline Challenge Championship in January, ADVNC will be a front-runner in taking home this year’s title. Paced by the dynamic midfield duo of Mikey Schlosser (Michigan) and Joe Reid (Denver), ADVNC will look to make plays in transition as well as rely on key players such as attackman Joe Lang (Harvard) and Frankie Hatler, Defenseman Liam Bourke (Michigan) who has emerged as one of the best in the west, and Josh Wellman (Penn State) at the face-off X.
RC: The perennial power of San Diego will be looking to build off its recent championship at the LXM San Diego event. Connor McCroskey (Harvard), Pierre Byrne (Notre Dame), and Andrew Tien will lead the attack, with Michael Kay (Drexel), Spencer Beyer (Wagner) and Owen Weselak at the faceoff. A defense lead by goalie Bryce Cady (Bryant) will be young and tested early.
Laxdawgs: The gritty, fundamentally solid, and efficient group from southern San Diego will once again be a contender. Long poles Trent and Connor Schulte are tremendous on defense, with the offensive duo Jake Stott and Charlie Mayers proving a prominent force on the opposite end of the field.
Utah Zip It: The merger of the summer will be a threat this Shootout with Quinn Eissler and Matt Graney leading the offense, while Dan Lier and Carter Manix anchor a strong defense. Team speed and quickness across the board will put them in the running to winning it all.
AZ Force: This team will come in firing with a talented squad, with Anthony Abadessa at attack, and Ryan Coukoulis, Garret Howell, and Mitch Fabroni pitching in. Cade Van Rapphorst and Alex Larson will hold down the defense.
