Spencer Evans scored with 2:38 left in overtime and goalie Cyrus Scott posted 18 saves to lift St. Ignatius Prep (CA) to a 6-5 victory over Seton Hall Prep (N.J.) Saturday in the first of two high school games at the Konica Minolta Big City Classic at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

The win improved No. 11 St. Ignatius to 17-1 as the Wildcats went 1-1 on their East Coast swing, also falling 5-4 to No. 2 Chaminade on Thursday. Seton Hall Prep is 2-7.

The trip to the East re-united St. Ignatius with Seton Hall Prep coach Dave Giarruso, who coached St. Ignatius from 1997-2002 (94-7 record, three state titles) and is credited for helping build California lacrosse into a budding hotbed by helping get the sport sanctioned by the California Interscholastic Federation.

Scott, a Colgate commit who had 16 saves in the loss to Chaminade, was again sensational and Matt Emery (Virginia) had two goals and an assist.

Seton Hall Prep rallied to send the game into overtime, as Brendan Barrett cut the deficit to 5-4 and Pino Bio tied it with 12 seconds remaining in regulation.

Bergen Catholic (N.J.) 16, Don Bosco Prep (N.J.) 15

Chris Blewitt scored five goals and Tucker James had four and the Crusaders (8-1) built a 14-6 lead and held off the Ironmen (6-2) in the second high school game played at the Big City Classic.

Jack Ray had five goals and an assist for Don Bosco.

Delbarton (NJ) 9, Fairfield Prep (CT) 5

The No. 13 Green Wave remained undefeated as Dillon Confalone scored three goals. Fairfield fell to 6-3.

Manhasset (NY) 9, Garden City (NY) 7

Kevin Overlander collected three goals and an assist while Matt Gavin and Tommy Lavelle added two goals as the host Indians (8-3) won the 123rd edition of the Woodstick Classic, the nation’s longest uninterrupted high school boys lacrosse rivalry.

Justin Guterding and Cody George each had two goals for the No. 18 Trojans (7-3)

Girls
