Snohomish (WA) rising senior LSM/defenseman Davyd Powell has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Canisius College.

Davyd Powell ledger:

High School: Snohomish High School, WA (north of Seattle)

Graduation Year: 2014

Position: LSM/Close D

College Choice: Canisius College

Club Affiliation: Seattle Starz, and West Coast Starz

Major lacrosse honors: All-Conference freshman and sophomore year; 3rd team All-State junior year.

Academic honors, service projects: Volunteer at Providence Hospital in Everett Wa.

What will you major in/study? Medical Laboratory Sciences

Why did you choose the school? “Coach (Randy) Mearns was very welcoming and made the recruiting process very personal. The campus was the deal breaker, though, is you could never get bored in Buffalo. Yes the winters are bad but that’s one season outta four.”

What are your thoughts on this past HS lacrosse season/team’s outlook for next season? “Having won the D2 state championship in 2012 we were moved up to D1 in 2013 and had a rough time preparing for that level of play. In 2014 I hope to make the playoffs and have a more intense, ready team.”
