Newton South High School (MA) senior attackman David Kasten has made a commitment to play Division III lacrosse at Sewanee.

Why did you choose Sewanee? “I chose Sewanee due to its reputable academics, close knit community, and dedication to its students. The beautiful campus was also a great addition.
“On my visit, Coach (Marty) Watters was wonderful and did not feel the need to impress me with a new state of the art athletic facility, but rather what it means to put on a Sewanee uniform and carry its tradition.”
Outlook for your High School team? “Though we have lost a few key players this past year due to graduation, Newton South is always a competitor in the DCL Large. We are putting in the work this off-season so come game time, it will pay off.”
Additional Comments: “To begin with, I would like to thank all my coaches from Middle School to Club. Dave McCallum at Newton South has been a very important coach and teacher of the game to me and I look forward to learning under his wing for my last season.
“Next I would like to thank Justin Walker and the coaches at Top Gun for giving me the opportunity to play with and against some of the best players in the country and get me in front of many coaches. Their candidness throughout the recruiting process was also very helpful.
“I would like to thank my parents for their continued love and support throughout the process as well as the necessary resources it took to send me up and down the East Coast for tournaments. Lastly, I would like to thank my brother, Josh, who took me under his wing and helped me to be the player and person I am. Without his love and compassion for the game, I cannot imagine where I would be today.”
