Cali Castagnola scored the go-ahead goal with 34 seconds left in the first overtime and Carondelet (CA) defeated host and top-seeded Amador Valley, 9-7, Friday night in the North Coast Section Division I girls’ lacrosse championship game.

Castagno finished with four goals as the Cougars (21-3) won their third straight North Coast (Northern California) title. They defeated Amador Valley in last year’s final, 21-12, but had dropped their year’s regular-season match to the Dons, 10-9.
The Cougars seized a 4-1 lead late in the first half after scoring four straight goals. But theDons (21-2) eventually tied the game, 6-6, before Castagnola’s made it 7-6 with 6:18 left.
Amador Valley sent it into overtime when Hannah Stapp forced a turnover and Cambi Cukar sent it into OT with a free position goal with nine seconds left in regulation.
Morgan Castelein added two goals and an assist for Carondelet. Cukar led the Dons with two goals and three assists.
