The National Interscholastic Lacrosse Coaches Association presented its 2014 Coach of the Year Award to Jeff Brameier, Head Coach of Darien High School (CT), at the ILMCA Convention on Saturday.
Brameier guided his team to an undefeated season (23-0) and Connecticut Class M State Championship and one of the top-ranked teams in America, including the top-ranked public school in North America by TopLaxRecruits.com. This was Brameier’s 10th career state lacrosse championship.
Entering his 33rd year, Coach Brameier has amassed a record of 506-127.
“NILCA is truly proud to have named Coach Brameier as our NILCA Coach of the Year,” said Ren Pettinelli, President of the National Interscholastic Lacrosse Coaches Association. “Bremeier is synonymous with Darien HS, not just because of lacrosse, but because of his passion for all students and the community of Darien as a whole.”
The NILCA presented its 2014 Man of the Year Award to Roy Kelly, Head Coach, Ransom Everglades HS (FL), at the ILMCA Convention.
Roy Kelly has been instrumental in the growth and success of lacrosse in south Florida since moving from Long Island in the late 70’s. Most recently, Coach Kelly organized the initial Florida Lacrosse Coaches Clinic in conjunction with the Florida Coaches Association. In the past, Kelly has been awarded the South Florida, Coach and Man of the Year as well as being inducted into the inaugural class of the South Florida Lacrosse Hall of Fame.
“NILCA is truly proud to have named Coach Kelly as our NILCA Man of the Year,” said Ren Pettinelli. “Kelly has been active in all levels of coaching and a driving force in South Florida Lacrosse since its inception. Through his hard work and dedication, we expect Lacrosse to continue to thrive in the South Florida region.”
NILCA was formed to provide dedicated service to high school lacrosse coaches throughout the United States. NILCA seeks to identify and provide solutions to issues raised by men’s high school lacrosse coaches. NILCA conducts its annual meeting in association with the IMLCA Convention
