The 10-time defending state champion Brother Rice boys’ team advanced to the Michigan Division I finals Saturday by defeating Clarkston, 22-9, Wednesday at Birmingham Seaholm.
Joe Dudley led the Warriors with five goals while JP Forester, Jason Alessi, and Sergio Perkovic each had three goals. John Plaskey led the team in ground balls with six.
The Warriors will face Forest Hills Eastern-Northern play in the state final at East Grand Rapids High School at 2 p.m. Forest Hills Eastern-Northern toppled South Lyon United, 11-10, in overtime on a goal by Bobby Pelton 13 seconds into the OT frame.
PHEN rallied from a 9-6 fourth-period deficit and sent it into OT on a goal by Christian Carlson with 43 seconds left in regulation.
Brother Rice (17-5) has lost only to nationally-ranked Culver Academy and Hill Academy as well as Ohio power Upper Arlington.
