The Dalers (14-3) will play Section 5 champion Penfield (15-5) in the state semifinals Friday at SUNY Cortland.

“I don’t think there is anybody outside the community of Farmingdale that thought we could win this game,” said Farmingdale coach Shari Campbell. “This just solidifies everything we have done all season long.”

“This is an amazing feeling,” added Hadnagy. “We haven’t won (the Li title) since freshman year and I knew I was not going to lose my senior year.

Amanda Turturro sparked a 3-0 run for Farmingdale with 15:14 to play after Bay Shore’s Kaitlyn Arnold had tied it at 9-9. Hadnagy then scored two more to make it 12-9 and two late goals by the Marauders were not enough.

Olivia Kirk had 10 saves for the Dalers and Emily Marlow tallied two goals and one assist while Tara Wahl notched two goals.

“We had no pressure; the pressure was on Bay Shore,” said Campbell. “They were the No. 1 seed coming in, they were the defending Long Island Champions and they were the ones that had to repeat.

“All we had to do was (get the) upset, and sometimes it is so much easier to upset. I told them we would lose if we did not go goal for goal with them and they listened. This feels great.”

Said Hadnagy: “All week we have been practicing really hard because we knew we had to start off fast to win this game. We are really confident. We know the competition that is up there and we believe we can win it all.”

Kyra Harney led Bay Shore (18-2) with three goals and one assist, Cynthia DelCore tallied three goals, Carly Cox added two goals and one assist and Kaitlyn Arnold had one and two assists.

“I feel like we beat ourselves,” said Bay Shore head coach Allison Pfeffer. “We had missed shots and we were kind of flat from the get go.”
