Bob Dignazio (Havertown, PA) and Devon Scharf (Merion Station, PA), U18 Girls Lacrosse Co-Chairs for the 21st Maccabiah, are pleased to announce the appointment of Occidental College Head Coach Hannah Khin (Los Angeles, CA) as Head Coach for the U18 Girls’ Lacrosse Team at the 21st Maccabiah Games, held in July 2022 in Israel.
“Hannah is an incredible leader and coach, and we are excited to have her lead the team in Israel” stated Dignazio. “The young women selected to the team will have an opportunity to learn and be mentored by one of the top lacrosse coaches in the country. We are very fortunate that Hannah has a passion for the Maccabiah and is eager to embark on this journey with us.”
A native of Portsmouth, NH, Khin was a four-year member of the Goucher College Women’s Lacrosse team, before she began her coaching career. During her four years as a Gopher, she was a four-time Landmark All-Conference selection, and her 205 career goals ranks her fifth all-time at Goucher. In 2013, Khin was an IWLCA All-Region selection. She also competed for the summer program Global Players, where she played in Amsterdam and Prague, and coached clinics in Germany.
Maccabi USA is seeking qualified Jewish lacrosse players, born between 2004-2007, to represent the USA delegation at the 21st Maccabiah Games. Eligible applicants should visit www.maccabiusa.com to apply.
After graduating from Goucher, Khin served as Occidental’s top Assistant Coach from 2015-2017 and spent the 2018 season as an Assistant Coach at Southwestern University. She was named the Head Coach of Occidental College in 2019 and is entering her third season leading the team. Khin and her coaching staff were recently named SCIAC Coaching Staff of the Year and had five players garner All-Conference honors, as well as fourteen named to the SCIAC All-Academic team.
“I am excited to be the Head Coach of the Maccabi USA U18 Girls’ Lacrosse team at the Maccabiah Games this summer”, said Khin. “It’s an incredible opportunity for athletes to play lacrosse internally, and I can not wait to share this unique experience with the team. I’m really looking forward to going back to Israel as part of such an incredible event.”

The first Maccabiah was held in in Ramat Gan in 1932 with 390 athletes from 18 countries taking part. Traditionally held every four years, interrupted only by the Second World War, by 2017 the Games had grown to include nearly 10,000 Jewish athletes from more than 75 countries competing in 40 sports, making it the third largest international multi-sport event in the world following only the Olympics and the FIFA World Cup.
