The Culver Academy girls’ lacrosse team captured the Indiana Girls’ Lacrosse State Championship Saturday with a 9-8 victory over Carmel at Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School in Indianapolis.
Erin Thomas scored the game-winner off a feed from Rebecca Gicewicz with 3:30 to play. The state championship was the seventh for the Eagles, who finished 21-1.
Coach Debi Trau’s Eagles were led by senior All Americans Annie Morsches (Colorado) and Olivia Rabbitt (Elon). Standout juniors Rory Byrne (Notre Dame) and Kelsi Carr return along with goalie Clair Fay for Culver in 2014.
