The Fifth Annual Patriot Cup Lacrosse Tournament on Saturday, March 2 at SMU’s Ford Stadium in University Park (TX) will feature two high school contests and benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.
The marquee game will see Texas state champion and home town squad Highland Park facing New Jersey Mid-Atlantic Prep champion Lawrenceville School facing off at 3 p.m.
Highland Park went 12-7 and claimed the Texas Division I crown by edging 5-4 in the finals. Lawrenceville was 17-4 and also reached the semifinals of the Inter-Ac Invitational (PA).
The other high school game features Division II champion Highland Park II (13-3) vs. Flower Mound (14-2).
The tourney also will feature NCAA squads powerhouse Georgetown vs. Dartmouth and two elite MCLA teams, SMU vs. Texas A&M.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, a non-profit organization that seeks to assist men and women of our armed forces who have been severely injured during conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan and other locations around the world.
“The Patriot Cup has grown beyond our expectations in the last five years,” said Patriot Cup co chair Tom Fitzsimmons. “These matchups highlight Dallas as the place to see lacrosse played at its best. No sport has grown faster at the high school and college levels over the last ten years. ”
In addition to the Dartmouth/Georgetown game, two of the best high school teams in the nation will square off when state championship teams Highland Park and the Lawrenceville School (N.J.) take the field.
“This is a great opportunity for fans of all ages to really get up close and watch lacrosse at its best,” added Co-chair Tim Perkins.
