Gabby Frank scored three goals while Marie McCool collected two goals, one assist and four groundballs as visiting Moorestown (NJ) defeated Shawnee, 8-4, today in a battle of undefeated arch-rivals.
The Quakers, ranked No. 3 by TopLaxRecruits, com, improved to 16-0 and extended their win streak to 42. Shawnee, which had been ranked No. 2 in the state by the Newark Star-Ledger, fell to 12-1.
The Renegades took a 2-0 lead in the first half and got superb goaltending from Lily Argyle (14 saves), but strong goaltending by Moorestown’s Shannon Keeler (eight saves) kept the game close until the Moorestown attack got going.
Sydney Dalmass cut the lead to 2-1 before Caroline Shinske (two goals) made it 3-1 Shawnee late in the half. But goals from McCool and Frank just, 24 seconds apart knotted the game before the half.
Moorestown seized control in the second half as Kierstyn Voiro gave the Quakers their first lead and McCool made it 5-3. Carly Demato cut the deficit to 5-4, but Frank had two more sandwiched around a tally by Jessica Dadino to ice it.
