DOWNINGTOWM, Pa. – Just in its second year, FCA Maryland has begun to make a name for itself.
Today at United Sports, FCA Maryland dominated the NH Tomahawks, 11-2, to claim the 2018 division championship at the Philly Summer Invitational by NXT’s Showcase Lacrosse.
Jacob Kelly scored four goals for FCA Maryland, which finished the tourney undefeated through solid defense and goaltending and unselfish play.
“I think we were successful because we played as a team and moved the ball and overall everything flowed in transition,” said defenseman Finn Thorne (Mcdonogh School). “Our offense ran their plays smoothly and quick and they finished well.”
“We knew the competition would be tough and that we’d be challenged.”
FCA Maryland’s biggest challenge came in the semifinals when it defeated Team 91 (NY), 7-4. Kelly had four goals and an assist in that win.
Coach Bryan Kelly cited the play of leading scorer Jacob Kelly, midfielders Liam Bateman, Will Koras, Alex Reid and Jake Saudek, defensemen Alec Carosoli, Jack Connelly, Will Thompson, Ham Whiteford and Thorne and goalie Liam Darragh.
