From Press Release
Encore Lacrosse is hosting the first annual Hawaii Youth Lacrosse Classic for boys and girls on July 10th-12th in Waikiki at Kapiolani Regional Park.
The tournament will be run Monday through Wednesday, at the beginning of the week so families can stay and make a vacation out of their travels. The tournament is co-ed and divisions include both youth and high school.
Encore currently hosts tournaments in Las Vegas and San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, and believes Hawaii adds another spectacular, world class stage to host youth and high school lacrosse from around the Pacific Rim and beyond. Encore will also start Mahalo Lacrosse Scholarship in 2017 with proceeds from team registration to help with great work the AYLA (Aloha Youth Lacrosse Association) is doing in Hawaii.
“John Keogh, Kirk Dobson and Corry Mabry have been amazing with their support, direction and suggestions on running the tournament, its imperative for us to have as much synergy and collaboration as possible with the lacrosse community in Hawaii,” said John Christmas, Encore Co-founder. “The feeling we all had the first time we played in Hawaii is something we want provide to all the youth players out there, their families and coaches.”
Encore Lacrosse was founded by Neil Butterfield and Christmas, with a mission of being a premiere lacrosse lifestyle company that introduces the game to “the last frontier.”
This includes underdeveloped international and urban areas. Encore leads adventure lacrosse travel trips all over the world, and works closely with many international and domestic lacrosse organizations to expand the game and change lives.

Inspiration for this event has certainly come from the adult lacrosse tournament, annually held over Halloween weekend, now in its 26th year and a player’s favorite since its inception.
“The first year I played in the Hawaii adult tournament was an unforgettable experience- the competition was great, the atmosphere at the field was fantastic and it was great to see the teams from Japan, Australia, Canada, and their excitement for the game. Traveling around the island after the games, hanging out on the beach and visiting the local spots was unreal. You’re truly playing lacrosse in paradise.” -Neil Butterfield, Encore Co-founder.
