From Press Release
NXTsports is proud to announce that the American Indoor Lacrosse Association (“AILA”) will serve as the Official Educational Partner of the third-annual Philly Indoor Lacrosse Championships (“PILC”), the nation’s largest box lacrosse youth tournament, which is set to take place February 9-10 at the SportsPlex in Feasterville, PA.
The High School AA Division features teams from Canada (Everest Academy), New England (Laxachusetts), Long Island (Jesters and DLT/Pro Box/Team 91), Virginia (Washington Generals), New Jersey (Leading Edge, St. Augustine Prep) and Philly (NXT, HEADstrong, Mesa Fresh and Jags Lax).
The AILA, under the on-field direction of Johnny Mouradian and Steve Holmes, is dedicated to educating and training athletes of all ages to help improve their lacrosse skills through high-quality indoor lacrosse programming. As Official Educational Partner of the PILC, the AILA will be working with select teams in advance of the tournament to help them prepare to play indoor lacrosse, and AILA personnel will be on site at the SportsPlex throughout the tournament.
Philadelphia Wings GM/Head Coach and AILA President Mouradian will lead a special free clinic for all players during the day on Saturday. AILA is additionally supporting the tournament by providing shot clocks and high-quality Boddam goalie equipment for the athletes.
Said Andy Hayes, President of NXTsports, “The American Indoor Lacrosse Association is a leader in developing the indoor game in the United States. We are very excited to have AILA serve as our Official Educational Partner for the PILC, arguably the nation’s most prominent indoor youth indoor lacrosse tournament. It is highly important to us that NXT events have an educational component, and the AILA’s involvement will certainly benefit all the participating teams and athletes.”
Said Mouradian: “This is our second year working with NXTsports and this partnership shows that both our organizations understand the value of learning and playing indoor lacrosse as a vehicle to become a better field player. We are committed to the development of lacrosse players.”
Now in its third year, the PILC continues to attract more and more elite programs, and provides an authentic box experience for teams from all over North America. The 2013 PILC is completely full except for one open spot in the 5th/6th Grade Division. If you are interested in registering a team for the final 5th/6th grade spot, or if you have any questions about the event, please contact PILC Event Director Robin Baxter at Robin@iamnxt.com.
