Emily Stein poured in six goals as the Darien girls’ lacrosse team routed two-time defending champion Greenwich, 18-6, Saturday at Bunnell High to claim the Class L state title and its 12th state crown overall.
Taylor Hardison added three goals and five assists and Dillon Schoen had two goals and two assists for Darien (21-1), ranked No. 10 by TopLaxRecruits.com.
In the boys’ Class L contest, Fairfield Prep won its second straight crown and sixth in eight years as Tim Edmonds and Burke Smith each scored three goals to spark a 14-8 triumph over Staples-Westport at McMahon High.
Emma Christie scored twice for Greenwich (17-5).
